Translation:

Now have been acquired the human form of life let us enquire into the Brahman.Bhaktivedanta Swami Mission School at Hare Krishna Land, Juhu, Mumbai, was founded in 1988 and is managed by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). The school offers unique opportunity to the future generation for social, psychological, physical, intellectual, and finally spiritual, development through quality educational system that envisages a healthy blend of scientific, cultural and classical disciplines. The courses are designed to correspond to Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (I.C.S.E) examination conducted by the Council for Indian Certificate Examination, New Delhi. The school year begins in April and compromises of two semesters April to September and October to March. Six X std batches have passed out with flying colours with merit rankers. The present strength of the school is around 450 students.

AREA OF THE SCHOOL:

A six storey building, the school is situated within the ISKCON premises. It has 25 large well ventilated classrooms, well- equipped science and computer laboratories and a library providing reading facilities to encourage study/reading habits. The school also has a gymnasium and a jungle gym playground and indoor sports room.

TEACHER FORCE :

25 qualified teaching staff and 18 support staff.

STUDENT STRENGTH:

455 students from nursery to Std X (Co-educational).

Children are served food after it is offered to Krishna. Prasad 100% veg,sattvic-no onion, garlic.

GOOD MORNING:

The day begins with the entire gathering at the Sri Sri Radha Rasbihariji Mandir in the main temple complex to offer salutations (prayers) to the Supreme Personality of Godhead-Krishna.

ACADEMICS:

The school is permanently affiliated to the Council for Indian Certificate Examination, New Delhi and follows the ICSE syllabus. Stress is laid on competencies and skills where academics are concerned. No exams are conducted for the students of pre-primary andprimary and std five. Students are assessed through continuous evaluation. Formal exams are conducted only twice a year for rest of the Std’s. Project’s or hands on activity forms the integral part of the studies. Computer education is introduced from pre-primary and continues upto std X.The school also offers Computer Applications, Technical Drawing Applications, Economics , Commercial studies, Enviromental studies as elective subjects for the ICSE board exams. Sanskrit language is taught from std five to std eight, This basic course, apart from giving an insight into our ancient Indian culture, would stand in good stead for those inclined to pursue vedic literature in their future life. Educational trips form an extension of learning which goes beyond classroom teaching.It is one of the few schools in Mumbai which offers inclusive education for specially challenged childrens.

PARENTS MEET:

Parents form an integral part. Online facility is also available for them to check the students progress, The parents also come forward to help in Annual Day, Sports Day, etc.

ADAPTION:-

In the Bhaktivedanta Swami Mission School spiritual education is carried out through various activities some daily some yearly. Through out the year festivities are held to celebrate auspicious occasions such as appearance and disappearance of great Acharyas and personalities, besides celebrating all traditional festivals. Children learn prayer for protection which the recite before leaving school. They learn to offer food to Krishna before eating it. But that is not all. Children are thought our ancient Vedic scriptures through the subject , Ancient Vedic History and Culture as part of their studies. Each day is celebrated at Bhaktivedanta Swami Mission School. Story telling, poetry recitation, fancy dress,quiz, etc. constitute some of the main activities of junior school, while elocution just-a- minute, photography, theatre arts, and many more are integral parts of the senior school cultural activities. Festivals such as Rath Yatra, Janmashtami, Govardhan puja, etc. involve children wholly in devotional activities. The school also host mega Inter-School festival Bal Utsav based on Vedic Knowledge and Indian Traditions.
